Meet Mateo “The Beast” Cota. Mateo has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Mateo’s mom, Erika, has had to take unpaid leave to coordinate Mateo’s care along with her husband Ed and her other two children.
Mateo’s family has rallied community to support to keep alive through multiple rounds of chemotherapy, relapses and a bone marrow transplant. Erika has set up a website with YouTube videos of Mateo’s journey, and a Facebook page that has garnered no less than 16,000 Followers. She has also recruited a Cal Poly fraternity and a sorority to help raise money. When Erika called on Doc to bring the DeLorean to a Family Fun Day Picnic, Doc was more than happy to.
The party for “The Beast” was just one example where the DeLorean Time Machine brought smiles to faces. Doc has been part of special events for hospice, domestic abuse and Parkinson’s Disease – Yes, serious causes – but 80’s parties and “Back To The Future” parties allow those in pain to escape the reality and have some fun, if only a few hours. That makes it all worth it for Doc.

When Doc launched Doc Brown’s Time Machine Rental back in 2015, he started it to have fun with his DeLorean Time Machine and make a little money, but mostly to have fun. Through the last four or so years, he’s seen the gamut. He’s been part of special events organized by professional event planners, CEOs, HR managers and Moms. He’s been part of multi-million dollar product launches, employee team-building events, weddings and birthdays. Doc has tons of fun at these events, but the events that Doc is most proud to be part of are the ones where people come together to use fun and community, to fight something horrible…like cancer in a little boy.

Doc Brown loves to help give back to the community whenever time permits in his time-traveling schedule. Doc especially enjoyed being part of Team Mateo Family Fun Day at Thousand Hills Ranch in Pismo Beach on Saturday, November 14th.
